Update: 11-29: Thanks for the 1000+ views every person! WOOT! In this tutorial, I will show you had to produce a “sniper scope” effect. Any stock footage works, depending on your needs. For a great resource, check out the (2nd) link in the “more info” description for this video. Once you’ve read the article, click on the “Manufacturer’s List” link at the end. Pay particular attention to the “Stock Animation” column for clips similar to what we used here. Hope it helps!

If you use worklight keep in mind not to use them directly. Bounce the light if a white wall or something you put close to your lights. (not too close).

  24. AlienRelics
    AlienRelics06-23-2012

It is a good instruction on setting up for chromakey.

It is also kind of funny that, at the end, we see the effects of post production done too quickly. You can see him lose 30 pounds and get a trim…. ;’)

    Watch 2:53 to 2:56.

    okee906-23-2012

Those lights are the proper ones but i picked up 2 worklights each with 2 x 500w halogen lamps,
the ones you’d see builders use, they cost me €50 + 120v transformer, they do a great job for lighting up the background

  26. AStickManProductions
    AStickManProductions06-23-2012

What you could do is type in crosshairs in to google images then get rid of the white or black background by using a composite mode. It works really fine!

Filmriot has got a more realistic sniperscope, which is a .PNG file, so you don’t need the chroma key 😛

  44. MedievalHollywood
    MedievalHollywood06-23-2012

@PussPussProductions. Sadly, no. iMovie doesn’t have much by the means of compositing. But, if you feel like you can put out 200 dollars, Final Cut Express is a wonderful program and can help you make better videos with effects and features that iMovie can’t even dream of creating. The sniper scope is one of them.
