This is my review of the Ebay product “Photo Studio Light Kit Soft Box Pro Softbox Boom C301” by seller “SavingtoSaving.” I purchased it in December of 2010 for 1.50. I would give the product a high score. It would have been nice to know it was made in China. I like to support domestic products when I can. Free shipping was a wow factor, as was the length of the green screen footage. It’s a pretty good buy!

Thanks for the quick answer. I actually waa thinking of night shooting either outside (good weather) or indoors but at different locations (3-10 times per year). Heard other reviews saying it’s no good for that but I’m careful with my stuff and wanted to know if I will encounter major issues with that.
Also the one 105w vs 5 44w for boom light.
    Thanks

It takes about 1/2 hour to set up and tear down with one person (if you wrap up each of the 15 bulbs in the foam and in the protective plastic it came in). That being said, for an outdoor shoot your bigger concern is the light and the elements. If it’s day outside, I’m wondering how much of a difference these lights would make. Compared to the sun, I wouldn’t say it would make any difference. Wind and rain wouldn’t mix well with electrical. Otherwise, I would say it’s worth it!

Also, after seeing the 10×20, I might look for 10×15 instead and get the 5 lights for the boom one instead of one 105w. What do you think is better?

This was THE most helpful review on these product types. I wanted to buy the JS Studio lighting and this is pretty much the same. I want to get this JSC102 but I’m wondering if it’s too much of a hassle to use this for outside shoots say about 10 times a year?

I wanted to also share HOW I shopped for this set. Check out Google Shopping, and modify the words to your liking. I searched “continuous light kit boom green screen” and modified the price to under $600. Keep looking and make sure you get what you want for the price you want it for. Happy shopping!

I cannot find the particular Cowboy Studio light set that I was competitively deciding between. But the reason I bought this set was out of response to THIS post from TaiTheAsianWonder “Cowboy Lighting 3000 Watt Softbox Lighting Kit Review”. Search for it on Youtube and see if you get the same feeling I do about the weak neck of the Cowboy light heads.

Excellent detailed review, very well done. I did look into the seller you mentioned above, he has raised the price of this kit to $427, so you did get a really good deal. Could you tell me what the equivalent Cowboy Studio version would be? Also, are you still happy with this item, how has it held up over the year?

Only one of the rods inside the soft-boxes has loosened it’s grip on it’s aluminum tip, but I’ll fix that with good’ol Elmers glue soon. Nothing drastic has damaged or broken since the post of this video. Thanks for asking.

I’ll have to return to this reply later for an accurate measurement, but before I do, which part did you want measured: the surface area of the diffuser, or the height of the whole thing (including the stand)? I’ll measure both soon. As for the quality: Everything is holding up pretty good. I disassemble everything every time I use it, and I’ve done so about 10-20 times. It takes 1/2 hour to set up and 1/2 hour to tear down. Everything seems to be pretty good…

Well, I can’t tell you how much the packages weigh because I’ve since taken off about 15 pounds of cardboard and plastic wrap. I could weigh it, but I’m estimating the three boxes weighs over 70 lbs. altogether.
