OpenShot Video Editor

OpenShot Video Editor is a free, open-source video editor for Linux licensed under the GPL version 3.0. As their website states “OpenShot has many great features, such as trimming and arranging videos, adjusting audio levels, transitions between videos, compositing multiple layers of video, chroma-key / green screen footage effect, and support of most formats and codecs. I’ve been using this piece of software for a few months now and it has lived up to this high expectation. What really sets OpenShot apart from other video editors is the easy-to-use user interface. We have worked very hard to create a video editor that everyone can enjoy! ”

For now yes. There is a challenge currently on to port it to Windows. Now, I’d encourage you to run it on Linux anyway. 1. Because you probably have more that one computer anyway, and running the same OS on both machines is just boring and 2. because if your only computing experience is Windows then you really have not had a complete computing experience.

Go to “Title”–>”New Animated Title” and you will see a number of title effects, including the four picture one used here. You should have Blender installed and a path to blenders executable set in options to make use of this.

I’ll give the green/blue screen effect a try, let you know how it goes.

My problem with OpenShot is poor keying for green/blue screen effect. I had the same issue with Kdenlive but I just received an update for the effects API that added more alpha options in Kdenlive. keying directly in Blender nodes is amazing however. Anyway, nice video.
